Graduate of the Gumilyov Eurasian National University. In 2009, she graduated from the Bachelor's program, in 2016, from Master's degree in Archaeology and Ethnology. The topic of the Master's thesis: "The Epoch of the Eneolithic in the Kazakh steppes (the phenomenon of the Botai-Tersek historical and cultural community)" (in Kazakh).
The main scientific interest of Zh. Akkoshkarova is the study of monuments of the Holocene epoch of Northern and Central Kazakhstan.
She is an author and co-author of over 6 publications on the archaeology of the Stone Age and the Middle Ages of Kazakhstan.
