GIS technologies and topographic survey

One of the important areas of the Institute's activities is the geoinformational cartography of historical and cultural heritage sites. The Institute's staff successfully creates digital cartographic foundations for regions, which include coastlines, hydrography, boundaries, settlements, and road networks. The Institute also digitizes the entire range of accumulated data on archaeological sites based on previously published collections and registries by regions, as well as site passports. During the research process, tables of sites are created, indicating the GPS coordinates of the site, chronological and cultural affiliations, key characteristics, and other relevant details.
