In 2000, he graduated from the History Department of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
In 2002, he graduated with a Master's degree in History from the Historical Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
In 2018-2021, he completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of History of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, majoring in 6D020800 – Archaeology and Ethnology.“ Thesis topic "GIS in the study of archaeological sites of the early Iron Age of East Kazakhstan" supervised by Ph.D. A. Onggar.
Since 2002, he has been working at the Margulan Institute of Archaeology of the CS MES RK. He participated in more than 80 different expeditions from Mangystau to Altai: Araltobe, Sarayshyk, Kyzyluyik, Besoba, Berel, Isyk, Shilikty, Elekesazy, Karkara, Katartobe, etc. The executive of drawing and graphic and geodetic works on the studied monuments. Completed the compilation of topographic and situational plans of the necropolises of Berel, Shilikty, Issyk, Elekesazy, Begazy, Bugyly-1 and 2, Besoba, Segizsay (Lebedevka), Kyrykoba, Taksai-1,2,3,4, Sarykol, Kokentau and Semeytau; temples-sanctuaries of Kyzylyyik, Tasastau, Aigyrly, Katem, Akpan; settlements of Saraishyk, caravanserai Beldeuli, etc.
Participant of the international Kazakh-French expedition to the Berel burial ground (1998-1999), Kazakh-Mongolian expedition to the monuments of the pre-Turkic (Huttyg-uul burial ground, Arhangai Aimak, 2009) and ancient Turkic times (Shivet ulaan complex, Bulgan Aimak, 2015). Took an active part in emergency rescue and exploration and observation works carried out at industrial facilities of various oil and construction companies on the territory of Kazakhstan. He prepared documentation and certification of historical and cultural monuments and identification, determination of protected zones of archaeological sites on industrial sites.
Takes an active part in the implementation of grant and program-targeted financing projects of the CS of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main scientific interest of G. Kiyasbek is the study of the early Iron Age of Kazakhstan, the use of GIS and other new methods in archaeology.
