Scientific archive
01 Nov 2022
The scientific archive of the Institute of Archaeology has existed since the creation of the Department of Archaeology at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography named after Ch. Walikhanov in 1946. First of all, these were scientific reports of archaeological expeditions working throughout the territory of the Kazakh SSR. Initially, the material was collected at the field committee of the Department of Archaeology of the Institute, which had the right to issue an Open Sheet for archaeological work. According to the existing procedure, scientific research reports were submitted to the field committee, where they were reviewed and then transferred to the archive of the department. In 1991, in connection with the creation of the Margulan Institute of Archaeology, it was separated into an independent structure. Due to the accumulation of a large volume of documentation, Director K. Baipakov decided to conduct an inventory and systematization in accordance with the requirements of archive-keeping.
The Scientific and Sectoral Archive in its work is guided by the administrative documents of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Regulations on the Archival Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Regulations on the Scientific and Sectoral Archive of the Margulan Institute of Archaeology of the CS MES RK.
The Scientific and Sectoral Archive of the Margulan Institute of Archaeology of the CS MES RK is an archive with a permanent set of documents.
To date, the archive has developed a unique complex of diverse scientific documents, including:
scientific reports of the institute staff and archaeologists of various institutions of our country;
