A. Medoev graduated from KazSU in 1959. In 1960-1962, he worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the IHAE of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, and in 1962-1965, he studied in full-time graduate school (under the guidance of K. Akishev). Since 1965, he was engaged in scientific activity within the walls of the K. Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. Since 1960, A. Medoev has discovered and researched Paleolithic monuments of world significance: Semizbugu, Turanga, Khantau, Chingiz, etc. in Central Kazakhstan, Shakhbagata and Kumakape in Western Kazakhstan, Kudaikol and Karasor in Eastern Kazakhstan. At the same time, he began to study primitive art (petroglyphs, sculpture), problems of nomad civilization, Kazakh fine art and architecture. He attracted various kinds of people: architects, artists, art historians, athletes, writers, journalists, cinematographers. For every person, regardless of education and position, he had kind words of support and inspiration, everyone in his presence felt kinder, smarter and more significant, felt his high destiny in life on earth.
