
Kadyrbaev Mir (1928-1982)
Kadyrbayev Mir was born in 1928. In 1955, after graduating from the Historical Faculty of Leningrad State University, he entered graduate school at the IHAE. In 1958, he was enrolled as a researcher in the Department of Archaeology. In 1959, he defended his Candidate’s thesis on "Monuments of nomadic tribes of Central Kazakhstan". Since 1975, he has been in charge of the Laboratory of Archaeological Technology.
In 1971-1973, he led the SKCAE detachment, which studied funerary monuments and petroglyphs in Southern Kazakhstan. He is one of the founders of petroglyphistics of Kazakhstan.
In 1975-1980, M. Kadyrbayev headed the Central Kazakhstan archaeological expedition, conducted the study of monuments of the Bronze Age, early Iron Age, Middle Ages. He is the author of monographs recognized in world science and numerous articles.
He died in 1982.
