Groshev Victor (10.09.1940–20.10.2006)
Groshev Viktor was born on September 10, 1940. In 1970 he graduated from the Historical Faculty of the Kazakh State University named after Kirov and was enrolled in the Department of Archaeology of the Ch. Valikhanov Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR as a senior laboratory assistant. From 1973 to 1990, he supervised the work of the SKCAE irrigation detachment.
In 1980, he defended his Candidate's thesis in Leningrad on the topic "Irrigation of Southern Kazakhstan in the Middle Ages". In 1985, he prepared and published a monograph "Medieval irrigation of South Kazakhstan".
In 1997, V. Groshev was awarded the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences based on the results of the defense of the dissertation "Irrigation of Southern Kazakhstan and Semirechye in antiquity and the Middle Ages in the 5th century BC - 18th century", in which, for the first time, on the basis of extensive archaeological material collected during 1973-1993, the problem of the emergence and development of flooding and irrigation agriculture on the territory of Southern Kazakhstan and Semirechye from the 5th century BC to the 18th century was considered.
Viktor Andreevich died in 2006.
