Ambassador of Japan to Kazakhstan Visits the Margulan Institute of Archaeology

On October 14, His Excellency Mr. Iijima Yasumasa, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid an official visit to the A. Kh. Margulan Institute of Archaeology.
During the visit, the staff of the Institute, led by General Director Akan Ongaruly, presented the Ambassador with the activities of the laboratories of archaeological technologies, zooarchaeology, and physical anthropology, as well as the work of the scientific archive and the Institute’s collection funds.
The meeting included discussions on key issues related to the development of bilateral scientific cooperation, the training of scientific personnel in the field of archaeology, the improvement of archaeological research methods, and the exchange of expertise between specialists of both countries.
The parties outlined priority areas for further collaboration, including the implementation of joint research projects, the organization of summer archaeological schools, and internships for young scientists and specialists aimed at mastering advanced research methods and modern equipment.
The visit of the Ambassador of Japan marked an important step in strengthening scientific relations between Kazakhstan and Japan, contributing to the expansion of the Institute's research activities and the enhancement of the quality of archaeological studies.
