Gender history is a key area of modern historical research that explores the social, cultural and symbolic aspects of gender relations. The concept of “cultural code” opens up new possibilities for analysing gender perceptions, norms and rituals inherent in different historical epochs and societies. The seminar “The Cultural Code of Gender History” explores how gender roles and identities have been shaped and transmitted through symbolic systems of the past, including art, religion, tradition and everyday practices.

The seminar will discuss how gender stereotypes have been embedded in cultures, how perceptions of femininity and masculinity have changed in different historical periods and how cultural codes have influenced the ability of men and women to participate in public life. Particular attention will be paid to revisiting traditional historical narratives and identifying those cultural contexts in which gender norms have been altered and reinterpreted.

The seminar invites participants to discuss the role of cultural symbols, rituals and images in formation of gender concepts, as well as their influence on social structures and interactions. The event aims to deepen the understanding of the diversity of gender identities and cultural codes, which provides a different perspective on the development of society and the relationship between men and women throughout human history.

It is proposed to discuss these issues within the framework of the scientific seminar, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of F.Kh. Arslanova, a researcher who devoted many of her works to the study of the social status of people of the past.
